Flax Seed Lotion

It's winter. And for most people (even people with oily skin) this is the time of the year where we suffer from dry, itchy, scaly skin. So for my first recipe I wanted to share a simple solution. Flax Seed is high in Omega-3 Fatty acids and antioxidants, which are important to our health and longevity. Pair it with a few other ingrediants and you have yourself a smooth lotion that's going to leave your skin healthy and bright.

Ingredients:
1/4 c. Flax Seed
1/4 c. distilled water
1 tblsp. Olive oil, Grapeseed oil, or Jojoba oil
1 Vitamin E capsule
a few drops of your favorite essential oil

Directions:
Combine the Flax Seed and water in a small bowl and place in the fridge for about an hour. This will create a gel that the Flax Seed naturally produces when soaked. When the gel has formed, use a strainer (probably the kind you would use for making jams and jellies) and strain the gel into a blender or food processor. Break open the Vitamin E capsule and add that and the Olive oil to the gel. Then add a few drops of your favorite essential oil for fragrance. Then hit the puree button!
This makes enough to last for a day or 2. You can make more, but be sure to put it in a tightly sealed container and place in the fridge.

For a variation of this recipe, instead of straining the Flax Seed gel, add it all into the blender to create a body scrub.
